Masvingo Province was graced by the presence of First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa today as she, through the Angel of Hope Foundation, extended a generous donation of food hampers and agricultural inputs to the province’s most vulnerable. The donation event, held at the Masvingo Provincial Showground, benefited a wide range of people in need, including 50 pregnant women, 200 elderly and disabled individuals (both men and women), and 500 other beneficiaries, including child-headed families and orphans, who also received agricultural inputs.
The event saw the attendance of key government and political leaders, including the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, his Permanent Secretary, Dr. Pazvakavambwa, ZANU PF Provincial Chairman, Senator Robson Mavhenyengwa, his Vice, Cde Trust Mugabe, as well as other ZANU PF officials and traditional leaders.
Welcoming Amai Mnangagwa, Hon. Ezra Chadzamira, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, expressed Masvingo’s deep appreciation for the First Lady’s visit, emphasizing her role as a mother of the nation.
"It is an honor for Masvingo to receive our First Lady, a true mother indeed," he said. "Her presence here today is a clear sign of her unwavering love and care for the people of Zimbabwe, especially the vulnerable members of our communities." He further praised the Angel of Hope Foundation, describing it as a beacon of love and humanitarianism.
"The Angel of Hope Foundation is a true definition of love. Through this initiative, we see the First Lady's deep commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind, regardless of their circumstances," he said.
Hon. Chadzamira also highlighted the significance of the donation, noting that it was not just about providing food but also about empowering communities.
"By extending these donations, especially the agricultural inputs, Amai Mnangagwa is giving our people the means to sustain themselves. This is not just aid; it is empowerment, enabling families to produce their own food and improve their livelihoods."
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the support given to them and to use the inputs productively to uplift their communities.
Addressing the gathering, Amai Mnangagwa reaffirmed her commitment to serving the people, particularly the underprivileged, through the Angel of Hope Foundation. She emphasized that her work is driven by the need to ensure that every Zimbabwean, regardless of age or status, has access to basic necessities and opportunities to improve their well-being.
"As a mother, I understand the challenges faced by our people, especially pregnant women, the elderly, and orphaned children. My wish is to see every Zimbabwean live a dignified life, and that is why we continue to reach out to communities across the country," she said.
In addition to the food hampers and agricultural inputs, attendees also benefited from free health screenings conducted by professional doctors. The medical services provided included general check-ups, blood pressure screenings etc. This initiative was widely appreciated, as it ensured that beneficiaries not only received food assistance but also had their health needs attended to.
