*MANINGI QUEENS MANAGER APPOINTED INTO ZIFA COMMITTEE* Fledging women's soccer league side Maningi Youth Soccer Academy (MYSA) continues to get national feathers on its cap, despite still to get to any podium finish. This, to many, signals the academy's focus on development ahead of winning. The latest recognition for the Norton-based Zimbabwe Women's Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) side is the appointment of team manager Casaina Mwangara into the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Projects & Infrastructure Committee. The appointment was announced by ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi in a letter to the association's members, dated 17 February 2025. The Projects & Infrastructure Committee is headed by ZIFA board member Brighton Ushendibaba, who oversaw two iconic achievements at Simba Bhora during his stint there. During his tenure, the club won its first premiership championship, and completed the construction of its own stadium. The later must have swayed ZIFA to assign him the infrastructure portfolio. For Mwangara, it is a defining appointment, for someone managing a club currently facing venue challenges. Maningi Queens's preferred homeground, Ngoni Stadium, is currently undergoing massive refurbishment courtesy of men's premiership newcomers MWOS FC, and Maningi will most likely play their matches in Harare for now. Until the Shariff Mussa-headed First Instance Board (FIB) approves it for topflight matches. The FIB and the Projects & Infrastructure Committee are two of the sixteen standing and adhoc committees announced by Magwizi. For Maningi, Mwangara's appointment represents another milestone for the academy. Several of their young players have received national team call ups and scholarships abroad.
