Coach Gumi off to Scottland? *MORE SCOTTBIZ RATTLES ZWPSL CLUB* As pre-season transfer rumours play out towards an inevitable conclusion, Norton’s “most hated club”, Scottland FC seems determined to guarantee themselves six league visits to hell this season. Yes, hell, because that is likely how they will be made to feel by local fans who may never forgive them for the way they snatched promotion lollipop out of MWOS FC’s mouth last season. The hugely unpopular boardroom decision left the Nortonians leaking second-place wounds, and facing the prospects of another try for top-flight action. Then ZPC Hwange happened, and, as they say, the rest is history. History is guaranteed at least a paragraph about a Scottland vs MWOS epic in the top flight. Unconfirmed rumours are that “Mabviravira” will field a team in the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL), where MWOS FC are also fielding their Under-20 development side. That is two visits to MWOS by the Hon Sakupwanya-owned moneybags. But wait, a Scottland Queens women’s soccer team is now in place, with a high possibility that it might secure, by financial muscle, a place in the Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) or the second-tier Northern Region Women’s Football (NRWF). If they join the former, that makes it three Scottland trips to Norton this season as Norton has a topflight women’s club based there: Maningi Youth Soccer Academy. And just like they made sure of bad blood between themselves and MWOS on the men’s front, Scottland have reportedly raided Maningi, with demoted former head coach Gumi Kutyauripo reportedly on his way to Mabvuku. The move, still not officially confirmed, has already caused some tremors at Maningi after allegations that Kutyauripo was actively enticing some of Maningi’s stars to accompany him to Scottland, where he is, according to sources, set to deputise veteran coach Perkence Nyamutamba, alongside a female co-assistant. Nyamutamba is currently assistant to Mighty Warriors head coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda at Chapungu Queens. Ironically, Sibanda, currently on tour with the national team, has Maningi assistant coach Primrose Serima with her on national duty, with Serima playing the fitness trainer role there. Kutyauripo has been Maningi head coach since the departure of Mthandazo Moyo, now at Richmond FC in South Africa. He was recently demoted to assistant under new Maningi coach Backleyfield Chivengwa, alongside continuing assistant Primrose Serima. If a move to Scottland is confirmed, he will be the second coach, and third person, recruited from Norton by the Hon Sakupwanya-owned Harare side. Around mid-last year, then NRSL campaigners Scottland gained Wellington Shangiwa from Norton Community FC, before rubbing salt to woulds by signing another Shangiwa, goalkeeper Kelvin, in the current window. Besides the rumoured possible visit to Maningi, Scottland has to pray that another surprise does not brew in Norton. MWOS FC have perfected the art of doing their business quietly, and no one knows their plans for women’s football. Whatever they do may yet add another Scottland vs MWOS league clash this season, to make them three! ====================== *NEVER MISS THE NORTON TIMES* *WhatsApp Group:* https://chat.whatsapp.com/KHjK0wO6DjTG6UUMpSWIfl *The Norton Times WhatsApp Channel:* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaWwep4AYlUKctykGV0J *TNT Global WhatsApp Channel:* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaJ2hRuAu3aToW9cav2g *Facebook Page* https://www.facebook.com/thenortontimes?mibextid=ZbWKwL *TNT on X:* https://x.com/mayortoo3?t=K7lUPcXBvwEL2nr_Kij5g&s=09 *YouTube Channel:* https://www.youtube.com/@https://www.youtube.com/@thenortontimestv =================
