Amidst the spiritual fervor of Prayagraj and the sacred confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna, the grand Allahabad Fort stands as a silent sentinel. Built by Akbar in 1583, this fortress has witnessed history from Ashokan times to British rule. The British turned it into a revenue hub, taxing Kumbh Mela pilgrims—earning Rs 50,000 in 1882 (worth Rs 45 Crores today). Beyond its military past, the Allahabad Fort is a treasure trove of heritage. Home to the sacred Akshayavata tree and a silent guardian of over 53 Purna Kumbh Melas, its presence reminds us of the deep historical roots intertwined with our faith, culture, and identity. Acknowledging this monument is embracing the legacy of Kumbh Mela and the rich tapestry of our heritage. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFh4MUXpStg/
