Ibn Rajab رحمه ﷲ reported that some of the Salaf would say:
The person who fears Allāh is not the one who weeps and sheds tears,
but rather, the person who truly fears Allāh is the one who abandons what he desires of the haram when he has the ability to do it.
Hence, the greatest reward is for those who obey Allah in private.
