The beauty of Surgery
This is a picture of before and after of a child that underwent leg correction surgery
This picture portray Blount's D!sease. It is a disørder that affects the bones of the lower leg causing it to bow
If you observe newly born children, you will notice that their legs are slightly bowed
It is as a result of the little environment of the womb space. It is called physiological bowing
When growing, their legs usually straighten out as at 2years of age
But in Blount's dïsease (a dïsease of excess bone growth) the bowing of the legs becomes worst
The exact cause of this dïsease is unknown but children with this dïsease are those that started walking early or those that were probably overwe!ght
Genetics is also thought to play a role in Blount's dïsease i.e it can be inherited from parent
This can be prevented if parents can help their children keep a healthy we!ght. Feed them with the right food
But thank goodness for surgical intervention, this curvature of the legs can be corrected
