The following are the job specifications: PURPOSE OF THE JOB To plan, organize and manage the activities of the Kasinthula Farm in order to meet the overall objectives of the organization. DUTIES The major duties and tasks of this job include. Daily planning of finances and production in order to maintain progress against periodic targets; Planning of daily practical activities e.g. operating machinery and equipment, preparing fields, etc. Planning and monitoring use of suppliers; Arranging for maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment; Reporting on daily targets, achievements and failures, and reasons for failures plus recommendations on how a repetition of failure can be avoided in future; Planning the activities of staff, mentoring and monitoring them; Maintaining and monitoring the quality of yields; Maintaining a knowledge of weather and its impact on productivity and making contingency plans: Maintaining a knowledge of pests and diseases and understanding how they spread and how to treat them; Ensuring that health and safety standards aer maintained at all times; Ensuring that local and international standards for protecting the environment and maintaining biodiversity are observed and maintained at all times; Record keeping for the department; Any other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS He or she must be a holder of Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture or its equivalent. Must have at least five years of experience in sugarcane agriculture. Must have computer skills to be able to analyze field data. Must have practical knowledge of irrigation.
