POSITION: DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
Malawi Trade and Investment Centre (MTIC) is a statutory organization dedicated to promoting trade and investment opportunities in Malawi. As a key driver of economic growth, MTIC facilitates both local and foreign investments, ensuring a thriving business environment.
To strengthen our operations, we seek a highly qualified, experienced, and results-driven professional to join our team as the Director of Finance and Administration. This is a senior leadership role requiring a proactive and hands-on individual with a strong external audit background.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director General, the Director of Finance and Administration will provide strategic leadership in financial management, administration, and corporate services to ensure the Centre operates efficiently and effectively. The key responsibilities include:
1) Finance and Accounting
Oversee the Centre’s financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and international financial reporting standards.
Develop and implement robust financial controls, risk management frameworks, and cost-effective strategies.
Lead the preparation of financial statements, audits, and statutory reporting.
Spearhead the Digitization drive at the Centre
Advise management on financial performance, forecasting, and investment strategies.
2) Administration
Provide oversight and strategic direction for human resource management, procurement, and digitisation functions.
Ensure efficient administration, employee engagement, and a productive work environment.
Lead the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures that promote staff development and organizational growth.
Spearhead procurement and contract management to ensure value-for-money and compliance with procurement regulations.
Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications and experience:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is mandatory.
At least 10 years of progressive experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior finance or administration role.
A strong background in external audit, preferably with experience in leading audits within reputable organizations.
Reasonable understanding of Artificial Intelligence (Al), Business Intelligence and Dashboards
Demonstrated expertise in financial strategy, risk management, and corporate governance.
Experience managing human resources, procurement, and digitisation functions.
Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in financial management systems and ERP software.
