*MINISTER TOLASHE TO INSPECT MORE POSTBANK CARD REPLACEMENT SITES IN CAPE TOWN*
*23 February 2025*
The Minister of Social Development, Ms Sisisi Tolashe will continue with her oversight visits to Postbank card replacement sites at retail stores in Cape Town to ensure efficiency in the migration of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries from their current gold cards to black Postbank cards.
On Monday, 24 February 2025, Minister Tolashe will visit sites in Grabouw, Bellville and Khayelitsha to curb challenges experienced by social grant beneficiaries. She will be visiting Postbank card replacement sites.
This week, she visited a Shoprite store in the Golden Acre while a team of executives, led by Acting CEO Mr Themba Matlou, visited Shoprite in Paarl where they got first-hand experience and Minister swiftly instructed SASSA executives to resolve bottlenecks so that the beneficiaries are assisted speedily.
In a joint Social Development and Communication and Digital Technologies portfolio committee meeting last week, Minister Tolashe recommitted the department and SASSA to pull all the stops to assist Postbank to ensure that the almost 3 million beneficiaries using the gold card are not inconvenienced.
This was followed by a meeting with the MECs of Social Development wherein Minister mobilised for more capacity and the protection of the dignity of social grant beneficiaries.
Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the oversight visit planned as follows:
First visit: Grabouw Shoprite
Time: 09:00
