EKITI STATE SAYS NO TO FGM! Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a violation of human rights and a grave threat to the health and well-being of women and girls. Today, over 230 million girls and women worldwide have survived FGM and are in dire need of access to proper care services. Alarmingly, if current trends continue, an additional 27 million girls will be at risk of FGM by 2030. Even more shocking, over 2 million girls undergo this harmful practice each year before their fifth birthday. Survivors of FGM face an increased risk of experiencing the same abuse across generations. As the world marks the 2025 International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, we stand firm in our unwavering commitment to eradicating this practice and protecting the rights and dignity of every girl and woman.
