Ekiti State Government has procured Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth ₦8 million for the State Fire Service, reinforcing its commitment to emergency response and fire prevention. The newly acquired gear includes turnout coats and pants, gloves, protective helmets, fire boots, undergarments, socks, and eye and hearing protection to enhance firefighters’ safety and efficiency. During an inspection of Fire Officers dressed in the new PPE, the Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof Mobolaji Aluko, commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for prioritising the welfare and capacity of the Fire Service. He noted that the swift response of firefighters to the recent fire outbreak at a popular filling station in Ado-Ekiti prevented what could have been a devastating loss of lives and property, demonstrating the agency’s readiness to tackle emergencies.
