*BMG & KCCI Leadership mourn tragic demise of AQ Khalil*
KARACHI: The Leadership of the Businessmen Group (BMG) and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) have expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of AQ Khalil, Former President KCCI and General Secretary BMG. His departure leaves a void that is irreplaceable, as his unwavering commitment to the business and industrial community of Karachi will forever be remembered.
Namaz-e-Janaza of late AQ Khalil was held at the Alamgir Mosque on Thursday morning. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of BMG and KCCI, former Presidents, along with a large number of BMGIANs, family members, friends, and well-wishers who expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the mourning family and shared in the sorrow of this immense loss.
In a joint statement, the Chairman of BMG, Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairman of BMG, Anjum Nisar, Vice Chairman of BMG and President of KCCI, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Vice Chairman of BMG, Mian Abrar, Senior Vice President, Zia ul Arfeen, Vice President, Faisal Khalil Ahmed, and KCCI's Managing Committee, expressed deep sorrow and shock upon hearing the sad news about AQ Khalil’s demise who was not just a leader, but a beacon of resilience and dedication, always striving for the betterment of Karachi's business community.
BMG and KCCI Leadership prayed that may Almighty Allah grant the departed soul eternal peace in Jannat-ul-Firdous and grant patience and strength to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those who mourn his loss.
While paying glowing tribute to AQ Khalil, Zubair Motiwala stated that his journey with KCCI was marked by a steadfast determination to address the concerns and challenges faced by the business community in Karachi. His leadership as President KCCI in 2001-02 and his role as General Secretary BMG since 2018 were pivotal in strengthening the voice of Karachi's business sector.
He noted, “AQ Khalil, with his legal background, played an instrumental role in guiding the Office Bearers through numerous legal proceedings, providing expert counsel and strategic direction. His contributions extended beyond legal matters, as he was also pivotal in transforming KCCI’s publications. Under his leadership, the Economic Horizon Magazine, the annual reports, and other key publications saw significant improvements in both content and presentation. Additionally, AQ Khalil assisted the research department in compiling comprehensive, high-quality reports, ensuring that KCCI's outputs were both credible and insightful.”
“Known for his unwavering commitment, Late AQ Khalil worked tirelessly to create a positive impact and was a key figure in every initiative aimed at safeguarding the interests of local businesses”, Motiwala said, adding that AQ’s efforts in advocating for the rights of entrepreneurs, industrialists, and small businesses are a testament to his profound belief in the growth and prosperity of Karachi.
Chairman BMG said, BMG and KCCI stand in solidarity with AQ’s family during this difficult time. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones, and our prayers are with them as they navigate this immeasurable loss. We also pray for the strength of the mourning BMGIANs, who, like all of us, feel the weight of this tragic moment.”
