CHOPPIES' loss, a GAIN for local entrepreneurs. GAIN Cash & Carry takes over after Botswana firm's exit. Following the exit of retail giants, Choppies Gain Cash & Carry is moving into the Ruwa store. Gain was set up in 2016 when Natfoods exited wholesale. Private equity firm Sub-Sahara Capital Group, with ties to Innscor, is an investor in Gain and Edgars and took over Metro Peech & Browne when the wholesaler went under in 2023. Gain Cash & Carry through banner messaging says they're coming soon. Renovations at the store have been happening over the past few weeks and are still ongoing. The move to open another branch comes at a time when numerous retail outlets are officially closing their doors, citing economic and currency complexities that are inhibiting profitability and viability.
