*A Call to Action: Exercising Our Right to Fair Compensation*
Fellow ICU local union members of Golden Exotics and Organics Limited,
In Ghana, negotiating for a salary adjustment or increase is a *RIGHT*, not a privilege. This right is protected by various laws and regulations, including;
✓- *Labor Act 2003 (Act 651)*: Guarantees workers the right to collective bargaining, including negotiating for better wages and working conditions.
✓- *Fair Wages and Salaries Commission*: Ensures workers receive fair wages and salaries, providing a framework for salary negotiations.
✓- *Trade Union Act 2003 (Act 652)*: Protects workers' rights to join trade unions and engage in collective bargaining, including negotiating for salary increases.
✓- *Ghana's Constitution*: Article 24 states that every person has the right to work under safe and healthy conditions, and to receive fair wages.
It's unacceptable that the PMSU enjoy their benefits while we struggle to make ends meet and dwell on *outdated salaries.* How can they expect us to work *efficiently* on *empty stomachs* in 2025? We need fair compensation to *survive, push to achieve targets, and find joy in our work.*
*It's Time to Take Action!*
We urge management to *fast-track* the negotiation process to help us receive fair pay. We will not accept any delay in the negotiation process, and we expect management to listen and engage with the *ICU National Union* to resolve this matter quickly.
