The newly appointed officials include Hon. Itayi Ndudzo as Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province, Hon. Albert Mavunga as Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, and Hon. Caleb Makwiranzou as Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development. Additionally, Ms. Vongai Palmer Guwuriro was sworn in as Chief Magistrate of the Judicial Services Commission, while Ms. Adelis Sibutha and Mr. Ozias Evans Muchaya Hove took their oaths of office as commissioners in the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission and the Zimbabwe Land Commission, respectively. The appointment of Hon. Itayi Ndudzo as Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province signals the government’s continued emphasis on decentralizing power and resources to provincial and local levels. Devolution, a cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s constitutional framework, aims to ensure equitable development across the country’s provinces, addressing historical imbalances and fostering grassroots participation in governance. In his remarks after taking the oath, Hon. Ndudzo expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa for the trust placed in him and pledged to work tirelessly to advance the development agenda in Mashonaland East. “I am deeply honored to serve the people of Mashonaland East and to contribute to the realization of Vision 2030. Devolution is not just a policy; it is a promise to our people that development will reach every corner of our nation,” he said. The swearing-in of Hon. Albert Mavunga as Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works comes at a critical time when Zimbabwe is grappling with urban infrastructure challenges, including water supply, waste management, and housing shortages. Hon. Mavunga, a seasoned administrator with a background in urban planning, is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing these issues. Hon. Mavunga highlighted the importance of collaboration between central and local governments. “The challenges we face in our cities and towns require innovative solutions and a united effort. I am committed to working with local authorities to ensure that our urban centers become engines of economic growth and hubs of sustainable development,” he said. The Deputy Minister’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to bolster the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, which has been at the forefront of implementing the government’s urban renewal programs. These programs aim to modernize Zimbabwe’s cities, improve service delivery, and create jobs through infrastructure projects. Meanwhile, Hon. Caleb Makwiranzou’s appointment as Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development underscores the government’s commitment to harnessing Zimbabwe’s vast mineral resources for economic growth. Hon. Makwiranzou emphasized the need for sustainable mining practices and increased investment in the sector. “Zimbabwe is blessed with abundant mineral resources, and it is our duty to ensure that these resources are exploited responsibly for the benefit of current and future generations. I will work closely with stakeholders to create an enabling environment for investment and to address the challenges facing the sector,” he said. The Deputy Minister’s appointment is expected to bolster efforts to formalize artisanal and small-scale mining, promote value addition, and attract foreign direct investment. These measures are critical to achieving the government’s target of a $12 billion mining economy by 2030. The swearing-in of Ms. Vongai Palmer Guwuriro as Chief Magistrate of the Judicial Services Commission marks a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s judiciary. As the head of the magistracy, Chief Magistrate Guwuriro will play a crucial role in ensuring access to justice, upholding the rule of law, and enhancing the efficiency of the judicial system. In her remarks, Chief Magistrate Guwuriro pledged to prioritize the modernization of the magistracy and the welfare of judicial officers. “The judiciary is the cornerstone of our democracy, and it is our duty to ensure that justice is accessible, efficient, and impartial. I am committed to working with all stakeholders to strengthen the magistracy and to uphold the integrity of our judicial system,” she said. Her appointment comes at a time when the judiciary is undergoing reforms aimed at improving case management, reducing case backlogs, and enhancing public confidence in the justice system. Chief Magistrate Guwuriro’s leadership is expected to drive these reforms forward, ensuring that the magistracy remains a pillar of justice and accountability. The swearing-in of Ms. Adelis Sibutha and Mr. Ozias Evans Muchaya Hove as commissioners in the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) and the Zimbabwe Land Commission (ZLC), respectively, reflects the government’s commitment to promoting human rights and addressing land-related issues. Ms. Sibutha, a human rights advocate with extensive experience in civil society, expressed her commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of all Zimbabweans. “Human rights are the foundation of a just and equitable society. I am honored to serve on the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission and to contribute to the advancement of human rights in our country,” she said. Mr. Hove, an expert in land management and agricultural development, emphasized the importance of sustainable land use and equitable land distribution. “Land is a vital resource that must be managed responsibly for the benefit of all Zimbabweans. I am committed to ensuring that our land reform program achieves its objectives of economic empowerment and food security,” he said. The appointments to the ZHRC and ZLC are expected to strengthen these institutions, enabling them to effectively address human rights violations and land disputes, which have been persistent challenges in Zimbabwe. President Mnangagwa congratulated the newly appointed officials and called on them to serve with integrity, dedication, and humility. “The task before you is not an easy one, but I am confident that you have the skills, experience, and commitment to deliver on your mandates. Let us work together to build a prosperous and inclusive Zimbabwe,” he said. The President also reiterated his administration’s commitment to achieving Vision 2030, which aims to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy. He emphasized the importance of unity, hard work, and accountability in realizing this vision. ——————————————— Zim Global Media News 🗞️ an Afrocentric Voice https://www.zimglobalmedia.co.zw ———————————————
