TEMPORARY LEGAL OFFICER: LITIGATION JOB TITLE: TEMPORARY LEGAL OFFICER: LITIGATION CONTRACT TYPE: TEMPORARY (12 MONTHS) JOB GRADE: PERONMES 9 REPORTING TO: LEGAL ADVISOR LITIGATION MANAGEMENT SECTION: LEGAL LOCATION: HEAD OFFICE, SUNNINGHILL JHB KEY DELIVERABLES: The Legal Officer: Litigation is responsible for providing litigation management supports to the Corporate Law Division of the NHBRC. The Individual will primarily be responsible for, but not limited to the following: - Review instructions to take legal action and initiate appropriate internal processes. - Receive court processes and take appropriate action timeously. - Draft letters of demand to debtors. - Provide support to litigation management and ensure that all litigation matters and processes are attended to within the prescribed timelines. - Prepare instruction letters to Attorneys for interdicts, recoveries and general litigation matters and update the Attorneys Instructions Register. - Assist in reviewing draft affidavits and pleadings as and when required. - Create and maintain various registers including General Litigation, Interdict and Recoveries Registers and related files. - Assist in the monitoring of litigation matters to ensure that the matters are pursued effectively, diligently and without delays. - Prepare and submit accurate monthly reports to the Manager on activities undertaken on the agreed deadlines. - Provide ad hoc reports as and when requested. - Provide inputs in the drafting of litigation related policies, procedures and processes. - Provide information or documents as requested for audit purposes . - Contribute in Implementation of Risk and Audit remedial plans within own area of responsibility. - Follow up with Attorneys to ensure that reports are submitted timeously as per the Service Level Agreement. - Assist the Manager in the preparation of submissions and reports to various stakeholders. - Assist with the recovery of monies emanating from costs spent on remedial works, legal costs, DC penalties and any other recovery of monies due to NHBRC. - Assist in the negotiations with debtors and or external service providers to facilitate payment of outstanding debts or settlement and conclusion of acknowledgement of debts/agreements as and when required. - Assist the Manager during consultations with internal stakeholders or Attorneys as and when required. - Liaise with internal stakeholders and Attorneys with regard to litigation matters. - Represent the section where legal advice is required as and when requested. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum LLB or appropriate Law Degree. - Minimum three (3) years’ experience in litigation. - Admission as an Attorney or Advocate will serve as an advantage APPOINTMENT: - The above-mentioned position will be offered on temporary basis.
