Decomposition – A forecasting method where time-series data is separated into three components: trend, seasonality, and cyclical; where trend encompasses the general horizontal upward or downward movement over time; seasonality includes recurring demand patterns such as day of the week, weekly, monthly, or quarterly; and cyclical encompasses recurring non-seasonal patterns. The fourth component is random, which is data with no pattern. New forecasts are made by projecting the individually determined patterns and then combining them.
