BRICS—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—is a grouping of these five countries and a few more, such as Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. With this, the BRICS group has become a major political force countering Western influence on global institutions. The group also focuses on co-ordinating economic and diplomatic policies and reducing dependence on the U.S. dollar.
