Engels Light Even before God created the sun, moon and stars and the earth was covered in darkness, He spoke - and there was light (Gen. 1:3). We cannot go without. And how we need it especially towards the end of winter: light! Not only physically, but also spiritually. However, we’re getting used to the darkness of the world. We look away. But we are called to be the light of the world (Matt. 5:14). Therefore, do not get used to the darkness and shine His light! Let your heart be shone by God (2 Cor. 4:6)! For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. In Greek the meaning of the word ‘glory’ also carries the meaning of brilliance or light in it! Thís is the light we carry in our heart! Paul shows a contrast with verse 4 and 5 in which he writes that there are still people who cannot see the light of the gospel, namely Jesus' glory, the fact that He is Lord - they are blinded because there is a veil over this gospel. Therefore, let us be the light in the world, let us shine His light and proclaim that He is Lord! 2 Cor. 4:4-6 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. [NIV]
