Concrete is brittle and prone to cracking under stress. The three main types of cracks in beams are:
Tensile Cracks (Bending): Vertical cracks on the bottom surface due to excessive tensile stress from bending.
Diagonal Shear Cracks: Diagonal cracks near supports caused by high shear stress.
Compressive Cracks: Horizontal cracks on the top surface due to excessive compressive stress.
