*If you don’t have faith in Faith, don’t demonise her* We all have opinions, that is human nature, that is how the Almighty created us. Being blessed with such qualities must however not be seen as a right to then abuse the same quality by coming up with unsubstantiated claims or biased opinions on certain subjects or individuals, all in an effort to push certain narratives, usually personal and selfish ones. Yesterday the Zifa executive committee announced members of 10 standing committees as well as less active ad hoc committees who will only be active as and when a need situation arises. One of the standing committee is the Referees Committee, which shall be headed by an award-winning and former international referee Faith Mloyi, a distinguished policewoman too. As said earlier, we all have opinions but what is crucial is that when we criticize, we must have our facts at hand to avoid any criticism of our opinions, lest those who consume our opinions start suspecting that we are casting aspersion. It is disturbing to see people questioning what Faith has achieved as a referee. Faith has been named the Referee of the Year First Runner-up on two consecutive occasions, in 2019 and 2020. Who knows, had Covid-19 not descended, she may have done it for the third time in 2021 or even won the big one. Faith is a Caf-attested commissioner. Since her ascendency to the PSL officiating, she has never been mired in controversy, executing her duty with utmost efficiency. We will begin to wonder if her criticism is fueled by where she is coming from, not anything else. If we have people we wanted, lets give reasons not to raise subjective points of arguments against those who have been appointed. For example I don’t know the reason why Sabelo Maphosa is not part of this committee, I also don’t know why Sibekiwe Ndlovu did not make it to any of the committees, the people who may have that reason are the ones who appointed.
