_*WR’s HEALTH UNIT AT BADHWAR PARK RAILWAY COLONY, MUMBAI  ACCREDITED WITH NABL CERTIFICATION*_
_*It has gained the distinction of being the first ever HEALTH UNIT of Indian Railways to receive NABL certification for a LABORATORY*_
The Medical Department of Western Railway has achieved significant milestones in the field of healthcare, its commitment towards delivering high-quality diagnostic services and ensuring excellence in patient care. Moving ahead in this direction, Western Railway’s Health Unit at Badhwar Park Railway Colony in Mumbai has achieved a remarkable milestone by receiving the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL - MELT) certification. With this, it has gained the distinction of becoming the first-ever Medical Lab in Health Unit over Indian Railways to receive this accreditation.
According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Shri Vineet Abhishek, it is a matter of great pride that the Pathology Laboratory at Badhwar Park Health Unit of Mumbai Division has gained the distinction of receiving the FIRST EVER NABL certification from the Quality Council of India, for a LABORATORY being run in a HEALTH UNIT of Indian Railways. This achievement underscores the laboratory’s adherence to stringent quality standards and its dedication to reliable diagnostic services. The recognition is a testament to the organization's commitment to excellence in medical care. The NABL certification is valid for a period of three years and is based on satisfactory proficiency testing performance.
Shri Vineet further informed that Western Railway has achieved several significant milestones in the field of healthcare by securing National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation under the Medical Entry Level Testing (MELT) program for multiple Pathology Laboratories across its zone. The Pathology Laboratory of Divisional Railway Hospital, Rajkot has set a benchmark by becoming the first Divisional Hospital’s Clinical Laboratory in Indian Railways to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL - MELT). This recognition has paved the way for other railway hospitals to strive for similar excellence.
Shri Vineet added that Sabarmati Railway Hospital’s Pathology Laboratory (Ahmedabad Division) and Valsad Sub-Divisional Hospital’s Pathology Laboratory (Mumbai Central Division) have also achieved the NABL (MELT) accreditation. Additionally, the Pathology Laboratory of Divisional Hospital, Bhavnagar Division, and the Workshop Hospital at Dahod, are currently in the process of obtaining NABL accreditation, showcasing Western Railway’s continuous efforts to enhance diagnostic quality across its healthcare facilities.
With the highest number of NABL Accredited Pathology Laboratories among all Indian Railways, Western Railway stands as a pioneer in quality excellence, demonstrating its unwavering dedication to patient care and diagnostic reliability. This remarkable achievement reflects Western Railway’s commitment to adopting global best practices and ensuring superior healthcare services for railway employees and beneficiaries.
