THE WORD FOR TODAY Stop trying to explain yourself to people who are set on misunderstanding you. Many people are emotionally reactive, and so misunderstandings are common. Facts will not change the minds of people who do not agree with you because, often, they do not disagree with the facts. They disagree with you. In fact, they may agree with what you are saying if another person says it. So, instead of persuading them, you are triggering reactance. So, the best way to get people to agree with you is not to argue facts. Instead, establish rapport. The more they like you, the more they will agree with you. Because humans are not essentially logical. We are more emotional than rational.
