This initiative is viewed as a strategic move to enhance the Nation’s development goals under the Leadership of HE President Dr ED Mnangagwa, the Head of State and Government. During an interview with this Reporter, Hon Nyakuedzwa emphasized that the decision to extend the President's term is crucial for maintaining the momentum of National development initiatives. He articulated that critics of this Resolution are missing the larger picture, which focuses on fostering stability and growth in the Great Republic of Zimbabwe. The proposed constitutional amendment aims to postpone elections, ensuring that ongoing projects and strategies aimed at improving the livelihoods of Zimbabweans can be effectively implemented. "The extension of the Parliamentary and Executive terms by two years constitutes a legal continuation of their mandates. Therefore, in accordance with the law, there is no requirement for a referendum," stated the Commissar for Manicaland Province, Cde Nyakuedzwa. "The opposition's concerns about this extension reflect a misunderstanding of our long-term Vision for the country. Under the astute Leadership of President Mnangagwa, we are committed to realizing the NDGs — National Development Goals, which include elevating the Great Republic of Zimbabwe to UMIS — Upper-Middle-Income Status by 2030," Hon Nyakuedzwa stated.
