editorial-on-president-mnangagwa-and-term-limits _On the fast lane to 2030 by Maxwell Haitengeswinyika Teedzai_ *The call for continuity: Why President Mnangagwa should heed the people's voice* | Mon Feb 17, 2025 Today, HE President Dr ED Mnangagwa convened some members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm at State House, reaffirming his diplomatic stance on Presidential, Parliamentary, and Local Government term limits. He has stated his intention not to run for a third term, emphasizing his role as a Constitutionalist. However, in every democracy, it is the people who decide their Leaders and the direction of their governance. While it is constitutional for citizens to demand that President Mnangagwa remain in Office, his commitment to listen to the will of the masses cannot be overlooked. The robust development of critical infrastructure has taken place for the first time since our Independence from colonial British tyranny, shaping the Great Republic of Zimbabwe into a Dubai-like State. The media often thrives on negativity, yet the facts speak for themselves: President Mnangagwa's Leadership has brought much-needed progress. Although he maintains his position not to run beyond 2028, the overwhelming desire among the people for him to complete Vision 2030 is palpable. He owes no apologies to anyone; his only obligation is to the citizens of the Great Republic of Zimbabwe, who yearn for him to continue leading the charge towards prosperity. The Voice of the People is the Voice of God, and it is time for President Mnangagwa to rise above political inclinations and heed this call for continuity. President Mnangagwa's Vision for the Great Republic of Zimbabwe is grounded in a pragmatic approach to development, focusing on economic revitalization, infrastructure improvement, and social cohesion. His strategies have already begun to bear fruit, attracting foreign investments and fostering local entrepreneurship. Critics may argue for a change in Leadership, but the reality is that continuity is essential for the long-term success of Vision 2030. Disrupting the progress made thus far could jeopardize the advancements in sectors like agriculture, mining, and tourism, which are crucial for the Nation's growth. President Mnangagwa's experience and commitment position him as the best Visionary to guide the Nation into a prosperous future. Moreover, the challenges facing the Great Republic of Zimbabwe—ranging from economic recovery to social unity—require a steady hand and a clear Vision. President Mnangagwa has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt the ability to navigate complex political landscapes and foster dialogue among diverse stakeholders in the rest of the Great Continent of Africa. His critics must recognize that stability is paramount in these transformative times. Allowing him to continue beyond 2028 would enable him to finalize the developmental plans set out in Vision 2030, ensuring that the Nation not only meets its targets but thrives in the process. It is time to embrace the idea that President Mnangagwa's continued Leadership is essential for realizing the full potential of the Great Republic of Zimbabwe. #edmylifepresident #vision2030 #thegreatrepublicofzimbabwe #supportourpresident #peoplefirst
