This initiative is not merely a project; it’s a powerful catalyst that aligns with the NDS-1 — National Development Strategy-1, aiming to transform our economy across sectors, especially in steel and engineering. Accompanied by Vice Presidents Rtd General CDGN Chiwenga and Rtd Col Hon Kembo Mohadi, the President's address shot light at the impact of this venture on our National economic landscape. The Palm River initiative, with a remarkable investment of US$3.6 billion from Zimbabwe Xintai Resources, emphasizes the critical integration of energy and metallurgy. This fusion not only enhances our industrial capacity but also addresses pressing global concerns about sustainability. The ambition to produce 2 million tons of chromium-based materials and 1 million tons of coke annually reflects the Government's commitment to driving industrialization while ensuring environmental responsibility. Here, we witness a moment where economic growth and environmental stewardship coexist, paving the way for a resilient future. “I have launched the Palm River Energy Metallurgical Special Economic Zone in Beitbridge, a US$3.6B investment that will drive industrialisation, job creation, and energy development. This is a major step towards Vision 2030,” posted President Mnangagwa via his Official x.com Handle this evening. Moreover, the launch serves as a pedestal for investment, positioning the Great Republic of Zimbabwe as a prime destination for global partners. The President’s emphasis on the Engagement and Re-engagement Diplomatic Policy invites diverse international players to partake in the Nation's economic revival. The Steel and Engineering Sector stands to gain immensely from this influx of investment, leading to job creation, enhanced infrastructure, and technological advancement that will benefit the economy in the not so distant future. As we embark on this transformative journey, the call for collaboration is essential. Partnerships between industry leaders, educational institutions, and the community are vital in fostering a skilled workforce ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead. The proposed Metallurgical Centre of Excellence will facilitate educational advancements and ensure that the Great Republic of Zimbabwe harnesses its resources to fulfill the promise of Vision 2030. This initiative signifies a commitment not just to economic growth but to the holistic development of our people and communities, ensuring that progress is inclusive and sustainable. Xintai Palm River Energy Metallurgical Industrial Park Special Economic Zone is more than a project; it is a legacy in the making. It embodies the spirit of #edworks, a movement dedicated to uplifting every sector of the economy in the Great Republic of Zimbabwe. As we move forward, let us embrace this opportunity with vigor, ensuring that our actions today lay the groundwork for a prosperous tomorrow. SEZs — Special Economic Zones — are a relatively new yet progressive concept in the Great Republic of Zimbabwe. Generally, Special Economic Zones are designed to attract investments in specific regions of our country. Investors in SEZs benefit from various fiscal and non-fiscal incentives established by the Government. In November 2016, the Special Zones Act was enacted in the Great Republic of Zimbabwe as part of Government’s efforts to engage foreign investors and counter the effects of illegal economic sanctions imposed by the US, which were contributed to massive economic decline by then. #palmriver #steelandengineering #nds1 #vision2030 #sustainability #investment #jobcreation #reengagement #engagement
