🌟 What a wonderful act of worship although I am lying on my bed 🛏
Ḥafṣah bint Sīreen, a learned Tabiʿyyah, narrates from Abul ʿĀliyah, a senior a Tabiʿee, that he said:
الصائم في عبادة ما لم يغتب أحدا، وإن كان نائما على فراشه
"The fasting person is in state of worship as long as he doesn't backbite, even while he is sleeping on his bed".
Ḥafṣah remarked:
"What a wonderful act of worship although I am lying on my bed!"

Ṭaleeq b. Qais, a Tabiʿee, quoted Abu Dharr (RadiAllahu ʿanh) saying:
"When fasting, be cautious (and reserved) as much as you can."
And because of this Ṭaleeq b. Qais would seclude himself in his room while fasting, and not come out of it except for prayer.

We are all guilty of backbiting others. No two or more people hold a conversation for more than five minutes except that they, almost always, fall into backbiting others.
Let us try to avoid this sin, at least, in Ramadan, esp. while in the state of fasting. The only way to do this is to avoid talking and chitchatting while fasting as much as possible.
Iftar parties are a fertile ground for backbiting as well, not to mention the gluttony and overeating therein, which defeats the whole purpose of fasting. So better stay away from them as well.
