If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock (Matthew 7:24 MSG)._ Blessed evening. Have you ever heard the story about The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy? I read recently that the Tower is nearly four-degree lean as a result of an unstable foundation. In fact, the Tower began to lean during construction in the 12th century, due to soft ground which could not properly support the structure's weight. It worsened through the completion of construction in the 14th century. By 1990, the tilt had reached 5.5 degrees. The structure had to be stabilized by remedial work between 1993 and 2001, which reduced the tilt to 3.97 degrees. As I thought about this, what came to my mind was Jesus' teaching about building our lives to last. Jesus tells us obedience to God's Word is the solid foundation we need for our lives. If we try to pursue God's purpose for our lives with the strengthening support of God's Word, we will be building our lives with a guarantee of failure. Your priorities are gravely misplaced if your focus is on the things you do for the Lord without giving attention to who you are with Him. the fastest way to collapse in your pursuit of purpose to be too much in a hurry to stand tall without digging deep. *Pray by faith with me thus:* "Lord, help me to grow deep roots in Your Word."
