*THE POOREST OF ALL MEN.*
_Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5 NIV)._
Good evening dear friend.
Sometimes, when I speak with people who are hesitant about committing to the pursuit of God's purpose for their lives, I hear it in their voice that there is fear in their heart about what the future may hold for them. Someone once told me that he knew that he was not in alignment with God's purpose for his life but he could not bring himself to step away from the familiar into the unfamiliar. It reminds me of those days on campus when a sister would say they could never marry a pastor. We used to laugh about it but what those people were actually saying was that becoming a pastor was to get on a fast lane to poverty and they could not imagine themselves on that journey.
I hope you see the point that there are too many people who are not entering into God's divine assignment for their lives because they are worried that their needs will not be met. I believe there are people who are genuinely concerned about whether they would be able to afford the good things of life in the pursuit of God's purpose for their lives. There are many parts to the issue and I will try to speak to them over the next few days. However, I want to start by saying that there is no enjoyment outside of God's purpose for your life. If you have everything your heart desires; if you are able to afford everything that money can buy but you are outside of God's purpose for your life, you are the poorest of all men. You are not likely to be able to freely commit to God's purpose for your life if you don't firstly embrace the truth that the quality of your life does not consist in the quantity of the things you possess.
*Pray by faith with me thus:* "Lord, help me to understand that my life is far more valuable than the size of my pocket or the food on my table." Amen.
*Keypoint:* There is no material blessing that compares with the fulfillment of God's purpose for your life.
