Puff Adder shedding its skin. This happens around three times a year in adults and as often in 12 times a year in juveniles, depending on their growth rate. The entire skin comes off, usually in one piece and includes the caps the cover the eyes. Snakes are not more aggressive prior to shedding but their vision is impaired and they tend to keep a low profile by going underground or hiding up a tree. About a week before shedding the eyes go a milky colour and snake keepers say the snake is in the blue.
