🪘🪘 *BENINOIS ANATOMY SEEKS TO EXPAND LOCAL COTTON PRODUCTION* 🪘🪘
President Talon of the Beninois Anatomy is putting in plans to increase the production of cotton in his country, with the quest of making the country a self reliant economy, diversifying their exports and increasing their GDP.
Cotton is one of Benin's main cash crops. It is grown mainly in the Northern section of Benin in areas such as Alibori, Borgou and Donga. Benin ranks as part of the first 12 countries globally producing cotton and the first in Africa.
Benin produces annually 400,000 to 500,000 tons of cotton, which provides a huge amount of revenue to the country as a result of their exports. Cotton accounts for about 40% of Benin's exports. In Benin, cotton is a boost their agricultural sector very much, as it helps vast farmers grow crops such as sorghum and cowpeas.
President Talon has invited investors in the cotton industry. The country has also been working with the WTO, the Afctca and other agencies to diversify the economy of Benin.
