*DIFFERENCES THAT EXISTS BETWEEN PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY AND PRESIDENTIAL DEMOCRACIES*
The main difference between parliamentary and presidential democracies is _who elects the head of government and the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches._
*_Parliamentary Democracy_*
The head of government under this type of dispensation, is not directly elected by the people.
_Below are some formal characteristics of this type of Democracy._
1. Here, the executive branch is responsible to the legislative branch.
2. The legislative and executive branches have a fused power structure.
3. The leader of the party that wins the most votes in the legislature becomes the Prime Minister.
4. The Prime Minister appoints Cabinet Ministers.
5. Parliament drafts and reviews legislation, and scrutinizes it before it's adopted.
*_Presidential Democracy_*
1. The head of government is directly elected by the people.
2. The executive branch has a strong and independent leader with a lot of power.
3. The executive branch is not dependent on a vote of confidence from the legislature.
4. The president is the symbolic head of state and has considerable powers in the constitution.
5. The president is in full control of the composition of their cabinet and the administration.
