*MEETING BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND ORGANIZED LABOUR ON FRIDAY, 14TH FEBRUARY, 2025‼️✍🏻* _The Chief Executive Officer of FWSC welcomed members and gave a brief background of the purpose of the meeting._ _The Labour Minister, on his part, thanked members for honouring the invitation on short notice, he however bemoaned the current state of the economy and requested Labour to be quite considerate in their demands._ _MoF indicated that this exercise should have been done by April last year. He also indicated that we have a responsibility to complete the exercise by next week to allow for budgetary allocation._ _Concerns Raised by MoF_ - Cost of living crisis - Inflation targets of 8% require the support of all - Expenditure cuts - removal of E-Levy, Covid Levy to be inculcated in the consideration of salary increment - USAID support cut by US and its implications - effect of debt restructuring. _He further requested Labour to help the government avert a second wave of debt restructuring by not demanding high wages._ _Organised Labour indicated that, due to the very short notice, most of its members couldn't make it, hence making it difficult to build consensus._ _He also said that based on the statement from the MoF on the current state of the economy, Labour would want to factor that in their new proposal._ _Labour requested that the next notice of meeting should be given early._ _A proposal was made by Labour for adjournment of the meeting to Wednesday to allow for a broader consultation._ _The meeting adjourned to Wednesday 19th February 2025 at 10:00am._ _Thank you_
