*DO NOT DEVIATE IN LIFE* For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. —1 JOHN 5:4 To succeed in life, your faith has to come in union with what is born of God. The word “born” means initiated, begun, or started. What is started by God + Faith = Victory. We can glean from this Scripture that whatever you may be believing God for must be something initiated by Him. There are things you can believe God for which are not initiated by Him. For example, Abraham needed a child because he was getting old. He decided to do something about it. He had an affair with his maidservant, Hagar, and brought forth a child called Ishmael. Suddenly he had a lot of problems. It is a good thing to have a child, but that plan was not initiated by God. In Genesis 16:12, this is what the Lord said about Ishmael’s future, “And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.” The original translation means he will be a wild donkey. Ishmael was not going to succeed. Why? Because he was not a product of something that God initiated. May you not have a wild child! Decide to let God take the initiatives in your life!
