The six intentional ways to practice taking corrections in humility are: -SEE CORRECTIONS AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH AND LOVE. essentially, viewing correction as an opportunity for growth rather than an attack on your character. Proverbs 12:1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish. -PRACTICE ACCEPTING FEED BACKS. Accepting feedback as a gift: Consider correction as a way someone is trying to help you improve, not as a personal attack. Isaiah 51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings. -PRACTICE LISTENING Active listening: Pay close attention to the feedback being given, trying to understand the perspective of the person offering it. James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: -EXAMINED YOURSELF. Self-reflection: Evaluate the feedback honestly and consider whether it holds merit. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? -AVOID DEFENSIVENESS Avoiding defensiveness: Don't immediately dismiss criticism or try to justify your actions without considering the other person's point of view. -APPRECIATE YOUR COACH Expressing gratitude: Thank the person for providing feedback, even if it's difficult to hear. Proverbs 10:17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth. *SCRIPTURAL REFERENCES: Proverbs 10:17, 2 Corinthians 13:5, James 1:19.
