URGENT REQUIREMENT: Job Title: EPUB Developer Location: Salem and WFH Job Type: Full-Time - 8 hours/Freelancers - 5 hours Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced ePub Developer/Formatter to create and format e-books for Mac, iPad, and Kindle devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ePub standards, familiarity with different e-reader specifications, and the ability to produce high-quality digital publications that provide an excellent reading experience. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design and Format eBooks: - Create and format eBooks in ePub and other formats compatible with Mac, iPad, and Kindle devices. - Ensure the layout is visually appealing and user-friendly. - Embed fonts, images, and multimedia elements as needed. 2. Quality Assurance: - Test eBooks on various devices and platforms to ensure compatibility and functionality. - Identify and fix formatting issues, including text alignment, image placement, and interactive elements. 3. Conversion: - Convert manuscripts and other source files (Word, PDF, etc.) into ePub format. - Optimize content for readability and accessibility on different devices. 4. Standards Compliance: - Ensure all eBooks meet industry standards, including ePub3 and accessibility guidelines. - Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in eBook formatting and publishing. 5. Collaboration: - Work closely with authors, editors, and graphic designers to ensure the final product meets their vision and expectations. - Provide technical support and guidance on ePub creation and troubleshooting. Qualifications: - Proven experience in ePub development and eBook formatting. - Proficiency with ePub creation tools such as Adobe InDesign, Sigil, Calibre, or similar software. - Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and XML as they pertain to eBook formatting. - Familiarity with e-reader devices and their specific requirements, including iBooks, Kindle, and other e-readers. - Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with accessibility standards and creating accessible eBooks. - Knowledge of scripting languages such as JavaScript for interactive eBooks. - Understanding of DRM (Digital Rights Management) and eBook distribution platforms.
