The *Olume Residential Building*, located in San Francisco’s Mission District, features a multi-layered cube-like facade with *ALUCOBOND® PLUS* in five custom earth-toned colours. Arquitectonica designed the 12-story building with dynamic metal cubes installed at varying depths, creating a visually striking landmark. *Design and Innovation* The architects incorporated depth and movement into the building’s exterior by using *ALUCOBOND®* panels at various depths, ranging from minus-8 inches to plus-8 inches. The five-colour scheme was chosen to reflect the earth tones associated with San Francisco’s iconic colours, creating a visually dynamic facade that complements the surrounding environment. *Collaboration with ALUCOBOND®* Working with Keith Panel Systems, 40,700 square feet of 4mm *ALUCOBOND® PLUS* panels were fabricated to create the intricate facade. The installation process involved detailed shop drawings and 3D modelling to ensure precision and alignment. Pacific Erectors installed the panels using the KPS System A Pressure-Equalized Rainscreen System, successfully transitioning between the custom colours. *Outcome* The Olume Residential Building has become a recognizable architectural feature in San Francisco, with its unique facade design contributing to the vibrant Mission District. The innovative use of *ALUCOBOND® PLUS* allowed for depth and movement, enhancing the building's aesthetic while maintaining functional performance.
