VO: Good Morning
VO: Pass me your documents
Me: Passed my Passport and I-20
VO: You're already a lawyer, what will this degree do for you?
Me: This degree will enable me return to my current place of work to take up the senior role of principal state counsel and senior research personnel. It is this vacant role that informed my specialization.
VO: How many years have you spent at your place of work?
Me: 2 years. 2 years plus.
VO: Have you travelled to the US before?
Me: No
VO: Why are you going to a Vermont?
Me: I started answering that I'm going to Vermont because I'll be working with Prof. Mark James, a professor in the Institute for Energy and the Environment on my research... then I remembered that I didn't start with telling her that I am going there for my LLM in Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Law so I added it.
I started panicking at this point cos I thought I had messed up. Then I asked...
Me: Can I go ahead to tell you about my research?
VO: No, just hold on.
VO: Who will be funding your deficit of 31,800 dollars?
Me: My father, Pharm. xxx, will be covering my deficit. He is a Pharmacist. He owns xxx pharmacy. He has 3 branches in Calabar, 2 in Uyo and 1 in Lagos. He makes an annual income of about 94 million naira and additional income of 85 million from his properties located in Lagos, Abuja, Calabar and Uyo.
She went through her system for a bit. Then she said...
VO: I'll be approving your visa at this time, we will communicate with you on how to pick up your passport from the location stated in your application.
I honestly couldn't hear what she was saying at this point again. I was so overwhelmed with emotion that after the talk, I was still standing there and she gave me the look like "okay, what's the problem, why are you still there?", I started saying sorry sorry, thank you and ran off.
