*Monitor Your Health*

God has made each one of us stewards of the body He has given us. Therefore, we must be responsible for taking good care of our bodies and health. Because of increased illnesses and diseases as a result of modern lifestyle and diet, it has become necessary to monitor one’s health regularly to keep healthy.
Monitoring or examining your health means monitoring yourself to identify changes in your health status. It involves the assessment of physical, functional and cognitive status to detect changes that may indicate health problems and to facilitate appropriate intervention to deal with the likes of fever, hypertension, diabetes and other conditions.
Here are three ways of monitoring your health:
1. *Use common monitoring devices.*
There are some things that can be detected by using some simple monitoring devices. There are wearable devices called activity trackers that monitor a person’s daily routine, helping them understand how daily activities affect their health and symptoms. Activity trackers can track steps and heart rate among other things. Some very common activity trackers are Fitbits or Apple watches.
2. *Learn about signs of illnesses.*
1 Samuel 10:7 “And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.”
In monitoring our health, it is important to learn about the signs of common sicknesses and diseases that many suffer from so that when we notice them in our bodies, we can take the necessary steps early to medically attend to them or to readjust our lifestyle.
3. *Be disciplined to follow health advice.*
2 Peter 1:10 “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall”
Just as there are spiritual advice or instructions to keep us safe, there are also natural and practical health instructions that will keep us healthy. Unfortunately, due to a lack of discipline, people who know what is right, even doctors, do not follow health advice and live carelessly. Now is the time to take control of your body and live a disciplined healthy life.
