As always, all the links you need for this group are in the info. section of channel. * * * This Coming Week * * * _Not Sunday Not School (Housing)_ When 🗓️: Wednesday 5th February, 1:00-3:00PM Where 📍: The Hive (First Floor) in the Steve Biko Building, Oxford Road, M13 9PR What ❓: A fortnightly political education workshop in the University of Manchester Students' Union - focused on radical politics. Topics decided collectively . The first session will collectively establish group rules, then we'll have a chat about housing, the University's Fallowfield Redevelopment project and what tenants have done historically to protect themselves from landlords. Whilst it is run in the Students' Union, non-students are more than welcome to come along and get involved! This was a national libertarian socialist organisation involved in workers and rent strikes, the Troops Out of Ireland movement, and much more. Organisers 💪: Working Class Movement Library _Prometheus Magazine: Marxist Unity Day School_ When 🗓️: Saturday February 8th, 10AM - 4PM Where 📍: Working Class Movement Library, Salford What ❓: In person day school to discuss strategy, pathways and challenges to Marxist Unity. A broad variety of perspectives and tendencies are welcome. Hundreds of British Volunteers, took part in the battle as part of the international brigades which protected Madrid from fascism in 1936. After this event we will go to the Britons' Protection to sing songs in English, Spanish, Catalan, Basque, and other languages from the civil war. Organisers 💪: The International Brigade Memorial Trust _Mark Ashton (1960 - 1987) Commemoration Event 2025_ When 🗓️: Sunday, February 9th 1:00 – 2:00PM Where 📍: HIV Memorial, Sackville Gardens, Gay Village What ❓: Gather to honour the life and work of Mark Ashton through speech, song and collective action. Founder of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, he was an activist that sought to unite the struggle for queer liberation and workers power. After there will be a Folk session starting around 2-2:30pm at The Goose on Bloom Street hosted by Queer as Folk and Rad Trad. All are welcome to join and sing, dance or sit and soak it all up! Please do not bring instruments. Banners encouraged. Please do not bring any papers, flyers, or other materials to hand out or sell. There will be photographers present. Please feel free to wear a face covering if you would prefer to protect your identity.
