#cgefs attended a Stakeholder Forum Meeting that took place yesterday, held by Legal Aid South Africa, to present their 2023/24 Performance Overview. Legal Aid SA reported on their dedication to women's empowerment, evidenced by the establishment of a women’s empowerment programme to provide women legal practitioners with ongoing capacity building and mentorship. Nonetheless, they also reported that women still face barriers and are reluctant to take up some matters; however, they did not provide further details highlighting the factors contributing to this reluctance by female legal practitioners.
