While various policies are in place to address and progress women’s economic empowerment in the labour market, such as the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act (PEPUDA), National Development Plan (NDP), National Framework for Women's’ Empowerment and Gender Equality, and the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (Act No. 53 of 2003), among others, the Commission's report, "Women in the South African Economy" findings indicate that the progress is slow as women continue to be disadvantaged.
