The MSMEs Development Principal Secretary ,Susan Mangeni accompanied Lafey constituency member of Parliament Mohammed Abdirahaman in a Community Baraza & Economic Empowerment Program focused on economic growth, youth employment, and community empowerment in Lafey constituency. As a way of mainstreaming government services to all parts of country, the PS laid the foundation stone for Huduma center service hub. For years, residents had traveled long distances to access essential services. Now, with the Huduma Center underway, access to government services would be closer to home, bringing efficiency and convenience to thousands. As part of youth empowerment, the PS officially handover over a fully equipped car wash facility and Certificate of registration to 18 groups . Speaking to the benefiaries, the PS emphasized the government’s commitment to job creation and self-reliance. "This car wash is more than just a business—it’s a step towards financial independence for our youth," she said. With pastoralism being a key economic activity in Mandera, the community benefited from Animal Restocking of 700 goats to families struggling with droughts and economic hardship. Animal Restocking is a government initiative geared towards strengthening local livelihoods and resilience. The ps distributied Youth Fund (5.8 million , Uwezo Fund cheques worth 6.3 million and the provision of car wash equipment calling on the community to utilize government initiatives such as financial inclusion Fund, Kenya Industrial Estates and to form groups so as to benefit with loans from agencies like Uwezo and Youth Fund. "Economic empowerment is not just about financial support,it’s about giving people the tools to shape their own futures," she said.
