*FRIDAY 28/02/2025 SERVICE WITH PASTOR PHINEAS MUGISHA* FIRST QUARTER: *THE MEANING OF GODLY WISDOM AND DISCERNMENT BY THE HOLY SPIRIT* DISCERNMENT IS THE ABILITY TO DIFFERENTIATE GOOD FROM EVIL OR TRUTH FROM LIES *DAY 2: DISCERNMENT* SCRIPTURES ---------- [NKJV] 2 Corinthians 11:2-4,13-15 Luke 16:1-8 1 John 5:19 1 Kings 13:11-24 Proverbs 2:11-12 Mark 10:2-5 John 2:23-24 Luke 21:15 2 Corinthians 11:2-4,13-15 2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it! 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. Luke 16:1-8 1 He also said to His disciples: "There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. 2 So he called him and said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.' 3 "Then the steward said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4 I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.' 5 "So he called every one of his master's debtors to him, and said to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?' 6 And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' So he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.' 7 Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' So he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.' 8 So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light. 1 John 5:19 19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. 1 Kings 13:11-24 11 Now an old prophet dwelt in Bethel, and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel; they also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king. 12 And their father said to them, "Which way did he go?" For his sons had seen which way the man of God went who came from Judah. 13 Then he said to his sons, "Saddle the donkey for me." So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it, 14 and went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. Then he said to him, "Are you the man of God who came from Judah?" And he said, "I am." 15 Then he said to him, "Come home with me and eat bread." 16 And he said, "I cannot return with you nor go in with you; neither can I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place. 17 For I have been told by the word of the Lord, 'You shall not eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by going the way you came.' " 18 He said to him, "I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, 'Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.' " (He was lying to him.) 19 So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water. 20 Now it happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came to the prophet who had brought him back; 21 and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, "Thus says the Lord: 'Because you have disobeyed the word of the Lord, and have not kept the commandment which the Lord your God commanded you, 22 but you came back, ate bread, and drank water in the place of which the Lord said to you, "Eat no bread and drink no water," your corpse shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.' " 23 So it was, after he had eaten bread and after he had drunk, that he saddled the donkey for him, the prophet whom he had brought back. 24 When he was gone, a lion met him on the road and killed him. And his corpse was thrown on the road, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the corpse. Proverbs 2:11-12 11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, 12 To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things, Mark 10:2-5 2 The Pharisees came and asked Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?" testing Him. 3 And He answered and said to them, "What did Moses command you?" 4 They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her." 5 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. John 2:23-24 23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did. 24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, Luke 21:15 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. EXAMPLES 1. A PROPHET 2. JESUS CHRIST POINTS 1. In our lives, in our various responsibilities and establishments, in our destiny, our decisions, we need the spirit of distinguishing or discernment because the enemy of our life wants to lead us astray using his many and various deceits. Example: at home, school, in the house of God, business, etc. 2. Discernment from the Holy Spirit is the only one that will give us victory over lies, half-truths, traps, deceits, all sorts of disguises, an untrue image of holiness A woman I received a while ago who had married a witch doctor and ruined her life A prophet of God 3. This world has its own wisdom (from satan and his ways), we need the Holy Spirit to give us true wisdom to overcome the worldly wisdom. 4. Only the spirit of discernment can save us from death, or what wants to destroy our lives, destroy our destiny, temptations from the enemy. 5. May The Lord give us wisdom and discernment, to know the people we live with, have a relationship with, work and walk with.
