The University of Ghana has denied claims that it collected over GH₵11 million in graduation fees without providing medallions and scroll holders. In a February 17, 2025 statement, the university clarified that the GH₵500 fee paid by each of the 15,776 graduates covers various items and services, including gown rental, a souvenir, a congregation publication, and administrative costs. The total expected revenue is GH₵7,888,000, not GH₵11 million as reported. The university acknowledged procurement delays in providing medallions and scroll holders but had informed graduates on February 10, 2025, that these items would be distributed later.
