Title: Maximal Implies Prime Principle Abstract: In commutative algebra, there are numerous results that show that an ideal maximal with respect to some property happens to be prime. We shall go over many such results. In the 2nd part of the talk, we will present a generalization of Eakin-Nagata theorem and Cohen's theorem as a consequence of a theorem of Jothilingam.
