◼️ *Wounded SANDF soldiers repatriated from DRC:* On Tuesday, SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini said the group, who have critical injuries, have been admitted to hospital and will receive high level medical care. The remainder of the soldiers, who are still in the DRC are scheduled to arrive in South Africa during the course of this week, he added.

◼️ *Table Mountain blaze:* Firefighters are continuing to battle the Newlands Ravine fire which broke out in the early hours of Monday morning. The fire is occurring in difficult conditions on steep slopes and rugged terrain.

◼️ *SA crypto exchanges review security after R27.5bn hack at Bybit:* What was unusual about this hack was its scale and sophistication. The hack occurred while the company was moving funds from a ‘cold’ or offline wallet to a ‘warm’ online wallet. More than 400 000 ethereum (ETH) and stETH (staked ETH) were stolen.

◼️ *Luxury tax on the cards:* Following the backlash over the intention to increase VAT, the Cabinet re-looked at the Treasury’s draft budget which suggested exploring progressive taxes on luxury items and wealth to ease fiscal pressure without harming low-income households.
