After unsuccessful attempts to finalize a deal with Matlama and Bantu during two transfer windows, Aminu Mohamed's agency refuted claims that the player had failed trials at both clubs. Speaking to Lesotho Soccersector, the agency clarified the situation.
"Mohamed had reached an agreement with Matlama, under which the club committed to providing him with M2,000 for groceries and other essentials while awaiting the January transfer window," they stated.
"We were shocked when the club suddenly changed its stance, insisting that the M2,000 should be a monthly salary. We made it clear that such an arrangement would not work," the agency added.
Regarding Bantu, they explained: "The technical team, led by Coach Manda, and the clubโs management were impressed by Mohamed. However, things took a turn after Bantuโs 2-2 draw against Matlama. The club decided to prioritize signing a defender over a striker, which ultimately prevented Mohamed from joining."
The agency expressed deep concern over the narrative suggesting that the player's deal fell through due to his failure, calling it completely false. They concluded that such claims amount to character assassination against a hardworking player determined to showcase his talent and capabilities.
Mohamed arrived in Lesotho during the July transfer window, where he impressed Matlama, who were eager to sign him. However, the move was delayed due to the failure to obtain his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) on time, and the window closed before the transfer could be completed.
When the January transfer window opened, The Blues from the capital city sought to finalize the deal, but this is when Matlama unexpectedly changed the terms of the agreement.
Attempts to contact Matlama Football Club for comment were unsuccessful, but we remain open to providing them with an opportunity to respond if they wish to do so.
