On February 5, 2025, Major General Robert Sofge, Commander of US Marine Forces Europe and Africa, visited Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Mtongwe and KNB Manda Bay, accompanied by his staff and a team from the Kenya United States Liaison Office (KUSLO). On arrival, Major General Sofge inspected a quarter guard mounted by Kenya Navy personnel and later paid a courtesy call to Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa, at the Kenya Navy Headquarters. The discussions during this visit focused on enhancing bilateral naval cooperation, strengthening the capacity of Kenya Navy Marines, and exploring future partnership initiatives to address maritime security challenges.
