*TODAY, DECIDE TO FOLLOW SPIRITUAL MATTERS* *"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." – Romans 8:5 (ESV)* What dominates your thoughts each day—spiritual matters or worldly concerns? The Bible teaches that our mindset shapes our lives and our relationship with God. What Does "Living by the Flesh" Mean? When we talk about the flesh in a spiritual sense, we refer to the sinful nature and the worldly desires that draw people away from God. God created both the spiritual and physical realms, but He warns us about being consumed by material things. The things of the flesh include the desires of the body and material possessions like wealth, money, houses, cars, land, and status. While these things are not inherently wrong, prioritizing them over God leads to spiritual danger. The Bible clearly warns: *"For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God." – Romans 8:6-8 (ESV)* What Does It Mean to Live by the Spirit? On the other hand, Scripture speaks about those who follow the Holy Spirit: *"But those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit."* Your thoughts and mindset reflect the decisions you make. Some people constantly dwell on evil thoughts because they have chosen to follow the desires of the flesh. But God calls us to something greater—to seek Him first. This does not mean that God does not want you to engage in material matters. He knows you need them, but He gives clear guidance: *"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." – Matthew 6:33 (ESV)* Living by the Spirit means seeking God in prayer, reading His Word, and allowing His truth to guide your decisions. It means choosing faith over fear, love over selfishness, and obedience over compromise. Today, God calls you to live by His Word and not be ruled by worldly desires. Do not let money and material possessions control you. Instead, let the Holy Spirit guide you in all things. Take a moment to reflect: Are there areas in your life where worldly concerns have taken priority over your relationship with God? Choose today to realign your heart with His will and trust that when you seek Him first, everything else will fall into place. *Prayer:* Lord Jesus, I ask You to cleanse my heart so that I may focus on You and follow the guidance of Your Spirit at all times.
